ATP Worldwide Products In 1990, the United States Food and Drug Administration withdrew its approval of the use of Gentian Violet in poultry feeds. This was a product that represented 43% of the total sales of ATP. Gentian Violet was effective against Candida (a yeast) which causes crop mycosis in poultry. A search began to find an alternative product. Working with universities, state laboratories and private laboratories, a new product was developed—SEREM/USA—comprised entirely of G.R.A.S. ingredients (Generally Regarded As Safe). In addition to being an excellent replacement product for Gentian Violet, SEREM/USA showed definite signs of being effective against the following organisms: E. coli, Salmonella, Aspergillus, Candida, Streptococcus beta, Pseudomonas, Pasteurella Multocida, and Klebsiella. Further testing of this new product has shown the elimination of Salmonella in meat and bone meal used at the rate of two pounds per ton and the elimination of E. coli and the rate of one pound per ton. Numerous swine tests have been done showing elimination of Salmonella and E. coli in sows and feeder pigs. ATP is now marketing SEREM/USA under the labels of SEREM/USA-Liquid, SEREM/USA-Pak, SEREM/USA Sow Pak, and SEREM/USA Horse Pak. Another product being marketed by ATP is SE-ZYME, an enzyme product improving feed conversion by 15-20 points in swine and 10-15 points in poultry. Tests are still being done by integrated broiler producers, Auburn University, Texas A&M University, and private research facilities.
